It depends on the type of lithium battery that you mentioned. Local Regulations vary, but federal regulations do not require any particular provision of the lithium ion batteries. These batteries, however, contain material recyclable and are accepted for recycling by the Rechargeable (RBRC) Recycling Corporation Recycling Program Battery Battery.
